AROUND TOWN: Interview with Whole Body Health and Wellness
Whole Body Health and Wellness offers a wide variety of wellness and therapeutic care services at their practice in Maple Ridge. Their caring practitioners create a peaceful and professional environment for their clients to relax and heal. I got a chance to interview Kirsten, the owner of Whole Body Health and Wellness, to learn more about her centre.
Who are you? (tell us about yourself!)
We are a multi-disciplinary wellness centre located in the heart of Maple Ridge.
Why did you choose to open your practice in Maple Ridge?
I live in Maple Ridge and love the community! I also knew that the community did not have many true multidisciplinary wellness centres and felt it was something that people would appreciate having in their hometown.
How big is you team and what sort of practitioners are they?
We have 11 practitioners who all specialize in various therapies such as Naturopathy, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Nutrition and Massage Therapy. Our team members are very passionate about holistic health and committed to helping you get well.
What are some of your most popular services, and how do they benefit your clients?
Massage Therapy is most definitely our busiest service as often there is a 2 month wait list but most of our other practices are very busy as well. In terms of benefits, every client is different and can see different benefits from the same therapy. My suggestion is always do your research on any services you are considering so you are aware of the healing effects they may have.
Who would you recommend therapeutic care services to? If someone was interested in physical or emotional healing but didn’t know where to start, what should they do?
Everyone can benefit from holistic therapies as they are non-invasive and much gentler than many traditional medicine techniques. As for learning more, come chat with us! You can also check out our website as we have in depth descriptions about our services online as well.
What is a service you provide that many people haven’t heard of, and how does it work?
We have a few but one I absolutely love in cupping therapy. Cupping therapy is an ancient form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves heated glass cups being placed onto various areas of your back. It can help improve blood flow, decrease inflammation and improve relaxation and well being. It is so powerful that you can feel like you have had a deep tissue massage after receiving this therapy.
What is a symptom people may have that they don’t realize can be alleviated through different types of therapeutic care?
Many people suffer with symptoms that can be alleviated by holistic therapies but probably the most common one that people try and manage themselves is stress. I would say that almost all of the therapies that we offer can benefit stress in some way but some are more focused on alleviating the effects of stress such as clinical counselling, acupuncture, cranial sacral therapy and massage therapy.
Tell us a fun fact about your practice!
We are a green practice! We don’t keep traditional filing cabinets with patient files. Everything is stored very securely in the cloud so we have significantly reduced our impact on the environment 🙂
